HACKING KNIFE

The hacking knife features a heavy steel cutting blade with a broad back for striking applications. It can be struck with a hammer to remove old putty from window frames.

Its primary intended use is with a hammer to chip old putty out of window frames, but there are many other uses. They include cutting wires, trimming branches, splittingjoints, notching out rough lumber...things you wouldn't dare do with a regular knife. The tough high carbon edged steel blade is hardened to maintain sharpness, while the back is softened to stand up to hammer blows. The blade tapers from 5/16" at the back to 7/32" at the cannel and is 4-1/2" long.
